Hey gang! If you weren’t aware, there’s a community on Livejournal about building fursuits that has been around for a very long time- in that time, years worth of information, tutorials, links, and progress photos have been posted up. http://fursuit.livejournal.com
Here is a link to all the Fursuit LJ tutorials that have been saved over the years: http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=fursuit&keyword=How-To&filter=all
You can use Ctrl+F to find the subject matter you need help with. Whenever you guys ask fursuit questions that I don’t instantly know the answer to, Fursuit LJ is where I turn to!
Here is the link to all the saved posts on LJ Fursuit in general, not just tutorials:
As you can see, there is a LOT of content on there. :D You can even get an idea of how costume trends have changed and evolved over the years just by looking through these posts. Many big-time makers posted up their very first pieces to this community for feedback, it’s really cool to see how far everyone’s come!
Another way to find information on how to build fursuits is to browse DeviantArt or FurAffinity with the search terms “fursuit tutorial” “fursuit guide” “fursuit how-to”, etc. You can sort by date or popularity which can help you find different kinds of things.
We’ve collected a bit of information here on this Tumblr too of course! Simply look through the “tips” tag to see everything we’ve amassed: http://fuckyeahfursuiting.com/tagged/tips
I’m afraid that I don’t have time to answer fursuit building related questions anymore, so I hope these links find you well! And remember, the best way to learn is by doing! Starting a new project can be scary, especially if you have no prior experience in it, but remember that everyone starts off as a newbie. You have to work through the mistakes and get your “so-so” costumes out of the way before you start making really awesome stuff. You can read all the tutorials in the world but unless you make that first stitch, cut into your first piece of foam, nothing wlll happen. Happy crafting everyone!!! Make awesome stuff every day.
PS: Feel free to reblog this with links to your favorite tutorials! Sharing information is awesome!
